Lotus Traveler 8.5.1 and RoadSync

As advised on the lotus connect forum:

Hello

Just installed the pilot for the new 8.5.1 infrastructure.

1 x Domino 8.5.1 Linux

1 x Domino 8.5.1 Windows

1 x Lotus Traveler on Domino/Windows

1 x Sony Ericsson P990i/P1i with RoadSync from Dataviz (ActiveSync impl. for the Sony Ericsson business phones)

Its indeed to check if the setup works for our P990i and P1i mobile phones using DataViz RoadSync. So the setup works fine and everything is installed fine so far. But when I try to make a test sync using the above setup it just repeatedly sends MS-WAP provisioning messages back- and forward:

MS-WAP-Provisioning-XML12558916838751

1MS-WAP-Provisioning-XML11255891684390

I didn’t install any traveler client on the mobile phones and just wan’t to use the active sync protocol like on the iPhone.

After all searching the internet I could not find any reason for this.

Has somebody an idea about this behaviour?

Kind regards

Roland Käser

Subject: Traveler 8.5.1 only supports I-Phone - I-Touch via ActiveSync

The Active sync support for Lotus Notes Traveler has been implemented specifically to support the Apple I-Phone and I-Touch device. This likely will not work with other devices as I-Phone is using an older version of ActiveSync. Other devices will be targeted for future releases.

Note: All Windows Mobile 5/6/6.1 and Nokia Series 60 3rd and 5th edition devices are supported via installing the Lotus Traveler client.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Subject: Thats very very disapointing

We sat our hopes for the new groupware system to domino 8.5.1 since beginning of the year and the first messages about active sync. Now we have to look around for an other solution. Feels like been betrayed by ibm.
