Lotus Notes to Exchange Migration

Hi,

We’ve recently migrated the mail server from Lotus Domino to MS Exchange. Domino is still being used as the web and application server.

We’ve certain applications that send mails to the users. For this reason we have SMTP routing turned on Domino side in the server document. We’ve used smart host to route the SMTP mails to the Exchange server. We’ve specified the required mail address (exchange say resmi@xyz.com) as the Forwarding address in the person document for the users.

In the global domain document the Primary Internal Internet is specified as xyz.com. Hence my concern is will Domino send this mail to the smart host or treat is as a local internet mail domain and hence direct it to the domino mail file of the user.

Note:

(a) We’ve not yet deleted the notes mail file for the users.

(b) SMTP is setup for sending local internet domain (all mails)

(c) In the person document the mail system is set as “Other Internet Mail”

(d) We’ve decided not to use Exchange Connector

Pls advise.

Best Regards,

Resmi

Subject: Well, what are you seeing?

It is not very clear what the question is, although you do an excellent job describing the scenario.

Subject: RE: Well, what are you seeing?

I think the OP is saying that both the Domino and the Exchange domains are ‘xyz.com’, and is asking will this be a problem.

From the way the environment is described, I can’t see how an e-mail generated in Domino could ever get to the Exchange domain.
