Lotus Notes Mail Rules

One of our end users created some email rules and 2 of them are having issues. The rules are pretty basic. Get email from (user) move it to (folder)

The rules seem to work however when the user goes to the folder where the email was moved to there is nothing but a small circle located under the “Type Icons” heading and the “WHO, SUBJECT, DATE AND SIZE” fields are empty.

If you hover the mouse cursor over this “circle” it shows “Rule_Off.gif”.

I checked the rules and both of them are indeed on and enabled within the rules setup area.

If I drag and drop this email back into the “Inbox” all of the above mentioned fields are populate. Dragging it back once again seems to hide the email as mentioned above.

I have removed and recreated the rules myself as well as deleted the folder and started from scratch yet when this rules functions the above issues happen regardless.

How can I fix this?

Since you do not have a selection for Windows 7 I selected Vista.

Also this is an 8.5 version client.

I will assume the folder you are referring to is the Data folder under each users computer profile?

Subject: No

The folder in their mail file.

Subject: Rules

I have deleted the folders associated to this as well as the rules. This still happens even after they have been deleted and re-created.

Should be name the folder(s) something entirely different?

Subject: Hmmmm

What is the name of the folder? Does it contain any special characters?Perhaps try creating a new folder with simple name - e.g. Test

Then chage the rule to point to the new folder

Test it

If that works, change the folder name to what you want, then change the rule to point to that folder name

Well the folder names are basic…GE

and…

Heather

I am waiting to get the CFO off of his PC so I can do some testing with different folders.

According to him yesterday some emails went into his rules folder (GE) that had absolutely nothing to do with GE.

I wonder if his mail file is becoming corrupt?

I am considering running a Fix Up job on the mail file and see where I stand after the fact.

Subject: Try deleting and recreating the folder.

Subject: I’ve seen exactly this before

Folder was corruptedI tried opening & saving it in designer and it crashed my design client

Deleting the rule then the folder and then recreating the folder then the rule fixed it for me
