I install Lotus 8.02 and cannot locate my databases on my workstation. Does any know what I need to do so that I can find my databases.
Subject: Delete the Cache.NDK
Try to delete the “Cache.NDK” from your Notes/Data folder und restart your client. Did the databases appear?
Subject: depends on the problem…
It isn’t clear whether you’re confused because the icons aren’t there, or if the local databases are actually missing.
If you aren’t seeing the workspace, you can add it by clicking the second dtabases folder on the bookmark bar and clicking workspace. Drag it to the bookmarks, then right-click and choose “Set bookmark as homepage”. That should restore your workspace.
If you have the workspace, but no icons, use File>Application>Open to locate the databases and open them to add the icons.
If you’ve done the above, and the databases you expect to see on the local machine actually aren’t there… there is single-user and a multi-user install. Single puts database into c:\program files\lotus\notes\data. Multi puts them in the user’s profile. (C:\documents and Settings\username\local settings\application data\notes\data). Perhaps you will find your databases in the other location.
Otherwise, you might have done something in the install process to remove the local databases. We usually take a copy of the user’s data directory before upgrading “just in case”, but rarely have to use it.
