Lotus Notes client on Linux SuSE 10.1

Hi,

Does someone have installed the Lotus Notes client 7.0.1 for linux on SuSE 10.1 ?

When i want to install Lotus Notes it start, display some screens and stop with a message as it cannot control the Mozilla version.

I have installed Mozilla 1.7 on my SuSE and it work but i have installed it with a tar.gz and not a rpm because i don’t find a rpm for Mozilla 1.7 on SuSE.

(i have tested to install Mozilla with the rpm for Red-Hat as they say on Mozill.org but it don’t work)

So i want to know if someone have succesfully installed the linux client of Lotus Notes on a SuSE 10.1…

Hi. I’ ve installed LN 7.0.1 client for Linux on SuSE 10.1 Desktop with mozilla 1.7.12 rpm instalation.

After install mozilla from file mozilla-1.7.12-0.1.i586.rpm (downloaded from net - just research this name in google i.e.) on Gnome I didn’t have any problems. If SuSE cannot validate mozilla version indicates that v. 1.7.12 of mozilla with GTK2 binding is not installed on the workstation or is not installed in expected locacition follow the instruction in pdf ‘IBM Lotus Notes fo Linux Release Notes’ on page 5.

There are some like that:

'… the file “/etc/gre.d/gre.conf” contains information on the Mozilla version an the variable “GRE_PATH” whose value should point to the directory location where the appropriate Mozilla version has been instaled…"

All I done is edit that file to contains 2 lines:

1st: [1.7.12]

2nd: GRE_PATH=/usr/lib/mozilla-1.7.12

While preparing to LN 7.0.1 with installing mozilla used KDE in SuSE 10.1 I had some problems with dowloaded rpm file so after instalation from it I put in folder showing in 2nd line of gre.conf file whole unzipped staff from instalation package ‘mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-1.7.12-gtk2+xft.tar.gz’ downloaded also from web. After this the Worplace Managed Client platform with plug-in to LN 7.0.1 on linux started installing without any errors showing wrong version of mozilla.

Remmeber: LN 7.0.1 have a lot of limitations and known problems, workarounds detailed in pdf file you can download form http://www.lotus.com/ldd/doc

… and 1GB recommneded System memory
