One of my users backed up data (nsf file) of Lotus notes got corrupted. The file size is 4 GB. Now the user is asking me to retrieve the data (mails) and i am not able to find any utility.

What specifically happens when you try and open the database? You can try running maintenance on the mailfile, as a suggestion, you could use this from the server console:
Load Fixup mail\username.nsf -f -n Full no purge
Load Compact mail\username.nsf -c -d -i Copy Style - Delete Views - Ignore Errors
Load Updall mail\username.nsf -r Rebuilding Views
If this does not work, you may be out of luck. You may contact support, but just realize that corruption is corruption, and they may not be able to recover your data either.
