Many modern scanners have a function (button) scan to email. This feature works great with Outlook, but I’ve never see a scanner with which this function works with Lotus Notes. Colleague’s show a way to make this feature work with Lotus Notes? If the Lotus Notes has a command-line option, with which they could make new letter and Attach file, then the problems would not exist.
Subject: it is available, but…
I’m assuming you’re talking about a personal scanner and scanning and having it open up a new message with the scanned file attached so that you can address the message, add body text, and send it manually. There is obviously some type of command line to do this, because if you set Notes as your default email service and then use the IE browser’s “File>Send> Link/Page by email” it works. If you have set Notes as your default email and the scanner software isn’t trying to create the message in Notes, then it is the fault of the software driver. This would be something to take to the scanner vendor’s support line. It is possible they already have a different driver to work with notes, and just don’t ship it automatically.
We use network multi-function printers, and the scan-to-email works great with them, because they send the message via SMTP. The Domino server accepts the connection and delivers the message just like it would with an internet message coming in from an outside server.
