Hi,I’m willing to try the Notes 8.5 Client on Mac.
I only have 3 computers running Mac OSX Tiger 10.4.
Will the Notes Mac Client supports OSX Tiger in the final release or should I upgrade to Leopard in this summer when the Final version be released?
Will the beta 8.5 client run on Tiger?
Thanks
Oliver

According to everything that has been posted on the Notes 8.5 BETA forum. No, you will not be able to use Notes 8.5 on Tiger. I am using Notes 8.5 on Leopard and it does seem to work ok. But you can really tell it is BETA.
I think the reason behind the OS limitation may have to do with the underlying Java framework in Leopard vs Tiger. Of course, I could be completely wrong.

I am also interested in installing 8.5 on Tiger (10.4).
I would greatly appreciate if IBM/Lotus could make an official announcement regarding what will be supported in the final 8.5 Gold.
(OS X versions, Hardware requirements, etc)
So far it’s been really hard to find any information at all regarding the upcoming 8.5 for Mac.
The documentation for the beta is subpar, containing confusing references.

I have the same question:
The 8.0.1 release notes (http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/notesmacforum.nsf/Customer/424f9fb98870e5ec852573d400716420?OpenDocument) say that “Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger will not be supported”.
Are there no other solutions or workarounds?
Does anybody knows the background for this limitation? What’s the differences between the java implementation in Tiger & Leopard?

Hi,
with the first beta, it theoretically was possible to run Notes Basic on Tiger, just the installer did mock around.
The current beta release is not binary-compatible with Tiger any more, due to some native Notes-libraries.
The Java parts would be no problem at all.
