Hi all,We need to upgrade all our client workstations from Lotus notes 6 to 8. Could I have some suggestions as how to go about doing this to avoid installing on each client one by one?
Trough my understanding this could be done in many ways some of which are:
smart upgrade
silent install
using transform files etc.
Which would be the easiest and most time efficient way of doing this? Also is it possible to combine the silent install with smart upgrade?
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Being in the process of currently upgrading a variety of installations from 6.5.x to 7.0.3 all up to 8.0.1, unless you want to touch every box, Smart Upgrade is the way to go. Realize you’ll need a ‘certificate’ on the server for every version of 6 that you have out there. Realize that - in spite of what the IBM folks say - users need admin privs on their computers to make it happen. Realize that it will not work for multi-user installations. Realize that some users will resent the little pop-up box that tells them to upgrade, that they’ll cancel, and that they’ll get even more annoyed when they get the pop-up every hour until they do upgrade. Realize that - unless all your users are tech savvy - that you will no doubt have to visit several boxes, especially those of the ‘high rollers’ in your company/organization/department/etc.Oh, and are you upgrading to Basic version or Standard version? Lots of differences to be aware of - how it looks, features not available, etc.

You would be best suited using Smart Upgrade. More information regarding SU is detailed in the Redbook below:
