Lotus Notes 8.0.2 group error - No names found to send mail to

In Notes 6.x and 8.0.1 if you have a group that contains a nested ‘Access Only’, when you send an email to that group and it reaches the ‘Access only’ group, you get an error:

“No Match” - “This name is not in a directory”.

You just click skip name and it carries on…

But when sending from a 8.0.2 client, when you send to the same group you get:

“No names found to send mail to”

Several 8.0.2 clients have this issue and it is reproducable.

Has anyone else seen the same error and does you know a fix/solution ?

Cheers,

T.

Subject: Lotus Notes 8.0.2 group error - No names found to send mail to

FYI, I ran into a similar problem. Same error message, “No names found to send mail to”. (I hate hanging prepositions.) In my case, this new error message was generated when a user tried to send mail to a group which had another group nested within it. Unfortunately the nested group was spelled incorrectly, and therefore did not exist.

Does your access only group name contain an underscore?

8.0.2 has that problem when an entry in the to, cc, or bcc line has an underscore in it but does not exist in the directory. This wasn’t a problem in 8.0.1.

You can test this by generating a new memo and typing in a bogus group. “Test-test” and hit send you will get the “No Match” dialog box. Replace the “-” with an underscore and you will get the “No names found to send to”
