Lotus Notes 8.0.2 Client - Issues/Feedback

Subject: Sametime Problems

1)Integrated client not working, client on 802, server on 801.Updated client mail8.ntf to 802.

  1. Quickr integration with ST integrated client? Thought it was there before, now its gone, reinstalling connectors did nothing.

Subject: Upgrade from 8.0.1: Cannot “attach” files in email

After upgrading, I tried attaching a file to an email. I received a “file no longer exists” message.

Solution:

I deleted both Cache.ndk and my “notesXXXX” directories from my temporary (%TEMP%) drive. Once I did this, attachments were ok again.

Subject: Installation Problems

Upgrading client failed horribly. To be fair I do a lot to my client but had to wipe all references to RCP, eclipse and other pieces.uninstalled 802 and then reinstalled and works.

Subject: “EUM UI Job” error after Notes client is run

I can sign in and see the home page but this error appears immediately.

Re-installed Notes 8.0.2 and selected the “Sametime (integrated)” option.This had been de-selected during the first upgrade.

Subject: Client UI problems

  1. When will the preferences dialog box stop disappearing while I am trying to configure items in it? This is maddenning beyond belief and has been this way since R8.0

  2. When I switch locations I no longer see all my open windows, sometimes the switch causes tab bar and sametime to go blank and just show home.

  3. Gutter is back, but what happenned to the little corner piece which was the refresh spot?

  4. There was a little button I had in my right tray next tot he location area where I could see all the background tasks, lost it in the install.

Subject: Notes 8.0.2 client issues

I’ve noticed the following:

  1. Notes standard client takes upwards of 3-4 minutes to load up on a 3.2 GHz Pentium 4 PC with 2GB of RAM and not having any other applications running other than anti-virus. The data folder is loaded to a network drive on a Windows 2003 server. This is done for users who log into different PCs throughout the day.

  2. Creating a new mail file based on the Mail 8 template takes around 10 minutes. The Domino server is 8.0.1 on an IBM Power system with i5/OS V5R4M5.

  3. Have on and off attachment slowness issues with users still running Notes 7.0.3. The users complain about Notes taking 2-4 minutes for Notes to delete a message with an attachment or to send a message with an attachment.

  4. If have the Inbox/Mail tab open I’ll receive the new mail notification in my system tray, but will have to click refresh to see the message in the Inbox. This happens even if I don’t go to my Notes client right away. In addition, in 7.0.3 I use to be able to just click on a message in Notes and the new message notification in the system tray would go away, but now with 8.0.1 I have to open a message for it to go away, and with 8.0.2 sometimes it does go away and sometimes it does not go away.

Subject: NotesSQL v8 had to be re-installed

  1. I had Notes v8.01 and NotesSQL v8 working.

  2. I upgraded to Notes v8.02

  3. NotesSQL stopped working. I had to re-install.

  4. Re-installed NotesSQL, everything was working. I worked with my computer all day.

  5. I had to restart my computer the next morning. After re-install, my Notes client would no longer start. There was a “provisioning” error. I am kicking myself for not screen-printing it, because the IBM_SUPPORT directory in the data directory does not have the text in a file. Anyway, I re-installed the Notes v8.02 client again (over top), and it is working again. I have not had time to re-test NotesSQL, but i will follow-up to this post if there are now issues again.
