Yesterday I signed up for the Beta program and downloaded Lotus Notes 7.0.2 Beta 2 from the developer’s site.
The installation goes fine and without any problems but as soon as I try start the application it crashes on me. I have restarted and repaired my disk permissions without any luck.
Setup:
17” Macbook Pro Core 2Duo
2Gb RAM
10.4.8
I have tried the same thing on my PPC G5 at home and it installs fine and open the application. I do have a problem that the app crashes when trying to open a database via my Internet connection. Local databases open up fine.
Has anyone else had this experience?

Beta 2 runs great for me on my MacBook Pro (so did Beta 1). Not sure why it isn’t working for you but you might try uninstalling fully (use something like AppZapper) and then reinstall. If that doesn’t work perhaps a database you’re bringing over from another installation (names.nsf, bookmark.nsf, etc.) might need fixup/updall/compact/etc. You could try doing a totally clean install and add a database at a time…

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your response. I have followed your adviseabout a clean install but unfortuanly without effect. I have also created a new user-account in OS X to re-install from that account. No luck.
The thing is Lotus Notes won’t even start. The splash-screen appears and after that “Notes has unexpectly quit” message. So have not been able to add or configure anything.
As mentioned in my original post I have also installed it on my G5 and it does start, updates the databases and opens the local ones (locks up on databases require Internet access (lookupHandle: Handle out of range).
I have also tried o copy that “working” installation to the MBP but without succes…after the splashscreen nothing. Anyone else have this problem on the latest Macbook Pro’s?
