As an Administrator, you have to decide if the user will use POP or IMAP to get to their mail. I usually run the Convert task to enable the mail file for IMAP, and then the user can use whatever protocol he wants.
See the Administration Help topic “Running the mail conversion utility to enable a mail file for IMAP.”

But is it automatically or do I have to use this tool everytime the user will access this mailbox ?
Thanks.

If your users are going to access their mail using IMAP, you have to run the Convert task on the mail file. Just once. Then, it is ready for IMAP connections.
Provided you have enabled the IMAP task.
To tell if the IMAP and POP tasks are running, type “sh ta” (without the quotes) on your Domino server console.
