Hi…
I have a Lotus Domino Server Version 8.0.2 installed but the sever has not been performing as expected.
The Client was using Domino Version 7 prior to the installation and they claimed incoming and outgoing mails were faster compared to what they are experiencing now.
We did not upgrade the existing Domino 7 but we installed another Domino 8.0.2 server and ever since the performance of the server has been epileptic…i mean it sends mail for a while then it really slows down and the queue becomes much.
How can i improve the performance of the mail server.
Thanks
Subject: some things to look at
You may have thought of these, but:1. Read the software & hardware requirements and such for Domino Server 8.0.2. Be sure the server meets those requirements. I would recommend that it exceed the requirements in RAM and speed, as the requirements are usually “minimum” just to run the software, and might not hold up in heavy usage.

Is there any other software running on this hardware? This could be hurting performance. In particular, look for antivirus, etc. that is running locally. Make sure to exclude the Domino directories and programs from this software.

Are there any Domino-based third-party products? Try disabling those products temporarily and see if performance improves.

You seem to indicate the problem is that mail backs up in the queue. Do a “tell router stat” and see what the status is of the messages that are backing up. Check the log as well. What happened last time they tried to route? It could be an intermittent problem with the network connection. Perhaps a bad network card in the new hardware?
