There are lots of steps possible, but very few necessary. This is way, way too open ended a question for anybody to simply answer in a forum. What kind of database is it? Could you hire an experienced developer who could evaluate the database and guide you (and, no, I don’t do such work)? Why is someone with no experience with Notes being asked to take this on?

Bad news srini,

You have a lot to learn and there are no shortcuts…

A lot of things that you do in a Notes Application don’t work in the Browser (see Help.nsf), somethings work but are not acceptable (round-tripping for keyword refresh, change of tab in a table…) so you may well have to redesign the application.

I suggest you start by looking at a simple web application and building an understanding of the environment (HTTP GET & POST). Get the OReilly books on Javascript and CSS. HTML is simple enough to learn from web tutorials and viewing the source however Dan Cederholm’s Web Standards Solutions: The Markup and Style Handbook will help you learn how to use it effectively.

Then look at a more complex application like OpenNTF’s Help! and read Jake Howlett’s blog (www.codestore.net). Ignore his latest stuff about slapping a Yahoo UI on it (Yelp!) for now. There are lots of ‘best of breed’ solutions (date pickers, name pickers and validation) that you can learn from.

Assemble your own framework of resuable code and components and build from that rather than take your Notes client app as the starting point.

Have fun,

Gerry
