We’re experiencing the following problem after upgrading to Backup Exec 10.0: after a normal day’s use of Lotus, the user exits out of Lotus and logs off their computer. The next day after they log in and try to open Lotus, the Lotus splash screen appears, then goes away after several minutes, and Lotus does not open. The user must re-boot their computer in order to open Lotus.
Running nsd when Lotus hangs shows a Backup Exec process running in the backup: belnapi.exe. As an administrator, killing belnapi (and subsequent notes processes) results in being able to open the client, but our users cannot kill belnapi since it is owned by SYSTEM. Any advice on how to eliminate this problem would be appreciated.
Subject: RE: Lotus 6.5.3 client hangs due to a Backup Exec 10.0 process
Can anyone confirm if this Veritas fix will correct the original problem that was occurring?
I have a similar problem where the belnapi.exe process and nserver.exe process work together in caching files for any *.nsf located on the Domino server.
