Has anyone seen or know why a database on a server would lose its replication formulas? I didn’t find anything by searching this forum.
We have databases on three servers now which recently lost their replication settings. As part of a test, we adjusted ACL, tweaked the replication setting formulas, and duplicated a database to a test server. We double-checked the formulas and let the replications begin. After a very long replication, we noticed that some of the databases no longer have formulas. These databases received all documents rather than a subset. That is a major problem with 4 million+ documents.
Trying to remember back … once in a blue moon we have had databases on regional servers which suddenly decided to replicate for days and acquire a state-wide replica. We were unable to pinpoint any explanation other than the fact that the database lost its selection formula. But why? With as many databases and servers as we have, it was not too surprising to have that happen once a year or so. It might have been user error (admin error). Since it has happened several times just lately, we worry that some sequence of events in setting the formula can cause it. What else could be the explanation? Maybe a bug?
Another possible issue might be related to moving the database between servers. We changed the ACL in order to deny access to different servers. We were testing an old and a new server. We started with both old and new having ACL access, we stopped Domino, and we dragged the database to new. We set the access on old to deny access to new. We set the access on new to deny old. (Names have been changed to protect the innocent servers).
