Losing path to server

Been using the beta for a while now and, while I like many of the new features, I have suffered 4 odd behaviors.1. Notes sometimes reports “Unable to find path to server” upon startup. If I open… a file and specify the IP address of my e-mail database server, cancel without actually opening anything, then everything works fine. This happens often enough that I’ve had to put the IP address of my server in a note so I can copy and paste it in.

  1. Missed keystrokes. Notes usually works fine but will sometimes be unable to keep up with typing, sometimes requiring several hits on the same key before a character will register. This problem is sometimes followed b…

  2. Sporadic crashes followed by a message that the log is being written. Eclipse is left running after this and can be difficult to kill. Sorry I don’t have more details - I’ll collect them next time it happens.

  3. Disappearing windows. Occasionally Notes will still be running, and I can access the windows menu, but no attempt to select or activate a window is successful. The File menu is unavailable and the program must be forced quit.

You can put the server name/ server IP binding into /etc/hosts.

The slow typing issue is a known issue which has been fixed in our later daily build.

Bug ID: SLYN7FYDDD Notes RTF caret can not follow my typing sometimes.

  1. Sporadic crashes followed by a message that the log is being written. Eclipse is left running after this and can be difficult to kill. Sorry I don’t have more details - I’ll collect them next time it happens.

Could you please provide the crash log if it happens for you next time? You can find crash log in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Eclipse_***

  1. Disappearing windows. Occasionally Notes will still be running, and I can access the windows menu, but no attempt to select or activate a window is successful. The File menu is unavailable and the program must be forced quit

There is a known issue on this, and the fix is included in the next beta which will be available soon.

Subject: Please elaborate

Sorry I don’t understand exactly what you mean. More detail please.

I’ve separately attached a file. Can’t tell where it went - my post didn’t show. I also allowed notes to send the crash log when it restarted from the latest crash. This time I saved the alerts: First alert says “NSD is collecting crash information, please wait”. Second alert says “NSD has completed” and gives a path different than you suggested. I’ll attempt to also attach that file.
