Logout for Web application. For Basic Name and password Authentication

Hi every one,

I am developing web application. In which I have a requirement to develop Logout Functionality. I know we can accomplish this with ? Logout, But I think this work only for Session based authentication. Is it possible to develop logout for Basic name and password Authentication?

Thanks.

if (window.confirm(“Please confirm if you want to log out?”)) {

var strDatabase = location.pathname.slice(0,location.pathname.indexOf(“.nsf”))+“.nsf”;

// database path

var strRedirectURL = top.location.protocol+“//”+top.location.host+strDatabase+“?opendatabase”;

//redirect path , u can hard code if you wish too

top.location.replace(“?Logout&redirectTo=”+strRedirectURL);

}

// redirect URL

Hi,

If you want to design custom login form, have a look at domlog.nsf

To logout, add ?logout to url just after db name.

foo.nsf?logout

Kiran,

I don’t think you can use ?Logout unless you have session authentication. If you launch your app in a window then I suppose you could close that window. But if users can bookmark to your application then that won’t work.

Hi Rapheal,

Currently we are using basic name and password authentication. There will be any problems if we changed the authentication to Session based? we need to enable any thing to use ?logout.

Thanks

Kiran,

Generally, session based authentication is considered better. It’s not really any harder to implement/maintain.
