Logon dialog box R6 and same IDs

We have an issue with old IDs after we upgraded to R6 clients.

Due to historical reasons, there might be several versions of an ID file on the local workstation. In R5, the client used keyfilename but in R6 the user sees all local ID files (2 or 3 versions) in the dialog box and can choose which one to use. This is very confusing and after synchonisation to the network we sometimes lose the original ID, especially if a rename was performed (still puzzeling how this actually happens).

Is there a way to surpress R6 from searching all IDs on the local machine after an upgrade? That way, the system will keep on working as in R5.

The closest thing I can think of is to edit the user’s location documents and point them at the ID filename that should be currently in use. If you have an ID hardcoded in the location, it won’t prompt.

If you are sending them new Id files, perhaps you could use a button that would both give them the new Id file and also modify their location document(s). (Why not have it clean up old ID files first?) But, at the very least, you could have the users modify their location documents.
