Log.nsf DB Title is set to "$DownloadinProgress's Log"

Notes Client installed as single user. When setting up a Notes Client for a new user Christian Henseler/HENSELER, the log.nsf database title is set to “$DownloadinProgress’s Log” and in the ACL a Person Entry “$DownloadinProgress” as Manager with all privileges is created.

In the Miscellaneous Event, there is a category Christian Henseler/HENSELER and a category $DownloadInProgress. The document in the latter is the older one in regard to the document listed under the first category.

This is the information given in the Log document under the category $DownloadInProgress:

Miscellaneous Events

Name: $DownloadInProgress

Time: 10.09 13:38:22

Miscellaneous Events:

10.09.2008 13:38:22 Created new log file as C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes\Data\log.nsf

First, I though, this behaviour is an artefact of a former roaming user configuration of the user.

But, at the moment the client was configured, the person document of the very user was set to User can roam: No

All Roam* fields in the person document are set to “0” or “”, except:

RoamStatDwnFl: 14.09.2008 18:56:13 CEDT (remark: don’t know why the time is set to the future)

RoamUpgdCscdInfo: “84FD4F9A D4B7DFAC:00649575 C12574AD”

“CN=Administrator/O=HENSELER”

“CN=Administrator/O=HENSELER”

“22.08.2008 20:18:38 CEDT”

When using another user who never was a roaming user on the same client, the Notes behaves the same. Before seting up Notes on this client, the data directory was cleaned and the notes.ini was reset to initial state.

Subject: Thanks for the report

We will investigate this issue immediately.

When a new user is setup, until the ID file actually is downloaded from the vault the user is running not as an authenticated user (no ID file yet) but as sort of a temporary user. I think the download operation actually ends up creating the log as the temporary user causing this problem.

We will do our best to resolve this before the final release.

Thanks again.

Subject: Resolved in the final release

We have verified that this problem no longer occurs either with or without the vault during new user setup. Thanks for your comments!

Subject: Notes ID disappearing

Hi Pete

we’ve got a similar problem with a customer, actually the customer reported that the Notes ID disappeared after starting the Notes Client.

Why does the Notes ID disappear, and where is it stored?

Note: he’s authenticating against Domino 7.0.3FP1
