Log in to Notes using Windows password

Our network services team are trying to identify a problem with Active Directory accounts getting locked out.

They are trying to point the finger at the Notes Single Sign On feature that is enabled for all users

We are not using any form of Notes/Active Directory synchronisation and I do not believe that the Notes SSO is the problem, however I can’t find any definitive information about exactly how the Notes client SSO works.

Can anybody point me to a document or other resource showing exactly what the Notes client SSO does?

cheers

Paul

Subject: Log in to Notes using Windows password

Notes Single Logon is a service which you can install that will attempt to sync the Notes password and the Windows OS password, so that the user doesn’t have to enter their password to log into Notes. If Notes Singlo Logon (NSL) is suspected as the culprit, you can disable it by going to File → Security → User Security, and uncheck “Log into Notes using your operating system login” and see if you still have the problem.

Hi Andrew

thanks for your response. I already know what the SSO feature does, I’m looking for more information about exactly how it works, i.e. how does the Notes client ask for the password info from Windows and what does it do with it.

I’m pretty sure that it isn’t the cause of the problem anyway

cheers
