We recently updated our Lotus Notes clients to 7.0.1. In doing that, we have been installing the client with the mulitple users option, instead of the single user option. In previous versions of Notes, the local names.nsf and the user.id file were in the “DATA” folder on the C drive: C:\Program Files\Lotus\Notes\Data or C:\Lotus\Notes\Data. On the machines that are running the new version for muliple users the data file is empty. I made sure that all the folder was showing all files, including hidden, and still nothing. Where are these files stored now? I’m trying to set users up on new PC’s and need to copy these files over to the server so I can put them on the new machines and I’m having problems locating them. I’ve even looked under the Documents & Settings for the user signed on and nothing. I’ve also scanned the C drive for the file names and still nothing is found.
Subject: local names.nsf, where?
did you scan/ search C:\ drive with advance options (to search hidden files and folders) ?
did you look into C:\Documents and Settings<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\lotus\notes\data
also try:
C:\Documents and Settings<user>\Application Data\lotus\notes\data.
if notes is running, its gotta have names.nsf out there somewhere …
hope this helps …
