During the client install/configuration, what mechanism sets the user’s internet mail address field in their personal address book (local names.nsf)?

the client looks it up in the Domino Directory. other settings, such as mail server, sametime server and mail file, are obtained the same way.

Paul,
What would prevent the internet mail address field from being set? In my case, my entry in the Domino Server names.nsf has the internet mail address field set correctly but my local address book does not have it set at all. So what piece of the initial config is broken?
in the notes.ini, before the initial login, I define the Location= field to the common name “Office (Network) CN=first m. last/OU”
Thanks,
Phil

well I don’t know exactly all that you are doing and I don’t really care to know. I’ve seen a great deal of recent posts that you’ve made about the setup process and making changes to notes.ini, etc. Perhaps you’d be better off using Policy docs to standardize your client config. Have you checked those out? Without knowing your environment I could not tell you exactly why your internet address is not being correctly set.

Paul, You are absolutely correct. I am having issues with my current task at so many levels from my lack of Domino experience to my permissions not allowing me to change anything on the enterprise Domino server. i.e. I need to beg the real Domino support team for their time! I know! It does not make any sense.
