Loading AMgr brings down Domino server

On July 28, our primary Domino mail server just stopped. We’re in the middle of migrating users from GroupWise to Notes, so we assumed it was something related to the migration. I rebooted the server, which had been up for about two weeks, and everything seemed fine.

On August 1, the server went down again. Again, we had been migrating users during the week, and I assumed it just needed rebooting. It came back up, began to run consistency checks on all accounts, and after about 10 minutes stopped. I rebooted. The server came up and Domino, which is set to start as a service automatically, stopped immediately.

I rebooted and, with the help of the consultant helping us with this project, took out all but the basic agents services from the server. I loaded them one by one until it went down again. It quit as soon as I loaded AMgr. We tried it again with only basic services. I let the server go through the consistency checks before loading anything. After it was done, I loaded services individually. As soon as I loaded AMgr, it just quit.

The server is Domino 6.01 CF1.

We are at a loss, and, as this is our primary server, we want to have it running properly. Any ideas?

Turn on agent manager debugging and it will tell you more of what is happening when the Bad Thing happens.

Thanks for the article link.

We found out what the problem was. There was actually an issue with Domino 6.0.1. Upgrading to 6.0.2 CF2 took care of the problem.
