Our standard LN client install is version 8.0.2. Our server is running at version 8.5.2. I have some users who want to know the advantages of upgrading their template to the 8.5 version. They do NOT want to upgrade their client software, just the template. Can anyone guide me to documentation that speaks to this - advantages, disadvantages, features, etc? TIA!!

Many of the new features are in the client software - the users really should upgrade client as well as the template. That said, here are the supported configurations:

The combination you mention is only supported during upgrades.
If the users have delegated access to their mail/calendar or manage another person’s mail/calendar, they should all be on the same client and template.
Here’s a good list of “what’s new,” (although it doesn’t call out which features are client vs. template based - not sure I’ve ever seen such a document)

FWIW, I’ve not used the 8.0.x client (we went from 6.5 to 8.5), but I really like the 8.5.2 client. There were big improvements and enhancements from 8.5.0 to 8.5.1 to 8.5.2.

Totally Agree! I’ve been on 8.5.2 myself since it was available. Unfortunately, even though I’m pretty sure IBM does thorough testing of all variations of server/client/template, our management just cannot accept the latest and greatest and move on without additional evaluation. Geez! Gack!
