Link in mail opens new IE window

When our users receive an URL link i a mail and click on it, an IE browser opens. If IE is already open, maybe several times, a click on an URL always opens the first opened browser window and thus removes the original content of the browser window.

Does anyone know if Notes can be set up to always open a new browser window, when clicking on an URL?

Switch to Firefox. Works as a charm.

I’m not sure if this will help, but in the Advance tab on the Internet Options, there is a check box that says “Reuse windows when launching shortcuts”… make sure that isn’t selected.

I have tried, but never succeeded to make Notes open links in new windows with IE. It would seem like Notes keeps tabs on the IE window it first opened, and reuse that window no matter what you tell it to do.

It could also be that IE keeps tabs on which window was opened by which application, and then when that application opens another link it is opened in the window that “belongs” to that application. Doesn’t really sound right, but with M$, you just never know…

There might be a workaround though, if you set the location document to use Other as internet browser, and browse for the IE .exe file. I haven’t tried it, but it might possibly work.
