As the Designer client has had a major redesign in 8.5 I hoped a couple of limitations would be addressed:
-
Ability to use @dblookup and related commands in a view to pull data from different document types into a single view a la relational database views
-
A proper user interface for editing class definitions in Lotuscript
1 encourages data duplication and 2 discourages object oriented programming. Am I missing something, or is there still no way to do these in 8.5?
Subject: There is light at the end of these tunnels …
-
@DBLookup in views is there for XPages - right now Browser Client only, but at least this is a start (imho a good one - even though I would love to see a bunch of things more in the area).
-
New Editors have been shown at Lotusphere (even though they did not make it into 8.5). Let’s keap our fingers crossed for a soon release of them.
Subject: Thanks for the feedback
I have been looking at xpages and they look really good for one of my web-based apps but I have a big Notes-only app that needs a major overhaul and I couldn’t justify migrating it to a new interface. This feedback is useful - I’ll hold back some of the big changes and see if they come available in the not too distant future, particularly the dblookup.
Subject: I can be wrong, but I would not held my breath for @DBLookup in normal views.
