Create an LDAP Account Record in the Notes client’s personal Address Book (names.nsf).

I did Create an LDAP Account and put required data but whenever I search for any name a find notheing.By the way it works from the server side but not from the notes client.

You may have the wrong “search base” value in your address book LDAP account document. In my case (with an Active Directory LDAP server) the search base is “DC=Lancs, DC=Local”. This means that I can do simple or compound searches in the directory and return Exchange addresses. Unfortunately the “Details” option for those addresses is a bit bleak so far (phone number & first name) but that’s because the data isn’t in our AD yet.

You can find your search base settings using the LDAPSearch utility that comes with the Notes client. It may help to install the “Users and Computers” snap in on windows 2k (run adminpack.msi from the i386 directory on the windows 2000 server CD) - just so you can see the AD hierarchy.

Two avenues to try: Make sure you didn’t specify a base. Domino doesn’t require a base for LDAP searches. Also, are you trying to bind as a user in the directory, or are you doing an anonymous search? Try anonymous first.

I tried to leave the user name and password fields empty then I tried to search for a user. a message came out “an unexpected error ocurred during LDAP search”.the same message error happen when i but a user name and password
