Launch pad customization

I am creating a custom welcome page based on the bookmark.ntf template. I will be using a framed page with the launch pad option. After dragging and dropping all of my links to the launch pad, can the links be categorized into groups such as “Program Group A”, “Program Group B” etc? Currently when dragging icons to the launch pad, the text simply reads “Applications”. We would like to group the icons on that tab under headings such as “Program Group A”, Program Group B", etc.

Also, is there a way to have the launch pad stay open rather than having to click the little arrow to open it each time?

Thanks in advance

I’m still fiddling with the launch pad itself to see about categorizing, but to keep the launch pad open, you’ll need to edit the QLinks1 frameset in the database. Click the Launch Pad link on the border to open it. Click in the launch pad frame to set focus, then open the Frame/Border tab of the properties box. Set the Open spinner to something larger than 0 (how many percent or pixels depends on how large you want your launch pad to be. Then save the frameset.

OK, to categorize:

(I’m assuming you’re creating a locked set of bookmarks/apps for all your users)

Create a new outline in Designer. Add all your apps, categorized as you want (headings are entries with no action; databases are indented entries below that open via @command([fileopendatabase]).

Open the Links page, and select the embedded outline on the applications tab. Delete it, then do Create/Embedded Element/Outline. Choose the outline you just created.

In the Embedded Outline properties, set it to show twisties (or not, however you want it displayed.)

Thanks Esther. I will try your method and let you know how it turns out.
