I would like to know if it is possible to install Notes 8.5.0 with the built-in version of Symphony now and later when Symphony is on OpenOffice 3.x branch just update Symphony.
Which of the possible ways will work?
We have to update Notes 8.5 to a Version say 8.5.x that includes built-in Symphony that is based on code stream of OpenOffice 3.x
We can install stand-alone Symphony Version 1.3 (or 2.x) that is based on code stream of OpenOffice 3.x in this is fully integrated with Notes as the built-in Symphony would be
We have a “Minor-Update” only for the built-into Notes Symphony version but the Notes client itself stays on version 8.5.0
I’d really appreciate any answers/thoughts on this.
Today, to update the version of Lotus Symphony that comes with Notes 8, 8.01, 8.0.2, and 8.5, you need to update the clients. The Symphony team talked about allowing you to update seperately going forward, but the details are still not clear. I assume this will be after Symphony 1.3 comes out.
It will be a while before we see OpenOffice 3.X code in Symphony … probably the 2.0 release.
Subject: Ok thanks to all opinions, but which one is right
Thanks for participating,
as I got at least two different opinions on this I’d think we have to test anyways if the update via updatesite.zip will work. Unfortunatelly we might not be able to test that till a new built in version of symphony is shipping with a notes client.
Or does say Notes 8.0.0 come with the same expeditor version but a minor Symphony version than 8.5? Than I would assume that positive testing on updating a 8.0.0 client with new Symphony also would work on later updating Notes 8.5.0 with a symphony 1.3 or something like that.
