I’m wondering if anyone can offer some insight into possible causes of ODBC errors encountered when attempting to load data from a Notes view into an ODBC compliant label program.
I’ve created a new label template using Weber Marking Legitronic software which will be used to print to a Zebra thermal printer. The ODBC connection is a system DSN file and the NotesSQL version installed is 3.02j. One field on the label is used as a key for populating the other fields. The prompt for the key gives a list of part numbers and serial numbers listed in a Notes view. The other fields use this key, once selected by the user at the time of printing, to return data from other columns in the table.
Everything works fine up until the key is selected and the program goes to look for values to populate the other fields…an error “Database error in field ” appears and the screen freezes up, then the error keeps appearing every 5 seconds or so. When looking at the CPU resources screen in Task Manager, NSQLE32.exe is taking some resources when the error appears, leading me to believe it has something to do with the NotesSQL driver. The error will appear with any field (other than the initial “key” field) which is populated by data from the Notes view, but if I change the field to point to a database source other than a Notes view (for example if the remaining fields data is stored in Access or Excel), the fields will populate and no error messages appear.
It seems as if Notes is causing a conflict when more than one field in the label template is attempting to access the Notes view at the same time. I’ve been working with the label program software people to try to resolve this, but we have not identified the cause as of yet.
Any ideas? Is Notes treating the individual field ODBC connections on the label as separete sessions by the same user, causing a conflict?
