Keep track a running / document revision number?

Hi,

I have two forms, Form A contain the project # and Form B contain the

quote#, In the Form A have a button let the user compose the Form B and

inherited the fields content from FORM A are inherited to Form B,

Everything is OK, but my problem is the Quote # in Form B needed to

generated from the project # in FORM A

For example the project # in FORM A is 2007-PJ001, then I want the Quote #

in FORM B becomes 2007-PJ001-Rev0,

Each project # may have many quotes attached to it. so I need a way to

create and keep track the quote revison for the same project # like

2007-PJ001-Rev0, 2007-PJ001-Rev1… etc… when the quote created from the

FORM A

Any idea are really appreciated !!!

Thanks!

Subject: Keep track a running / document revision number?

mapperkid,

Well, since presumably it’s possible for someone to create formB and then back out, or maybe even delete it later (?) you’ll have to track the rev# either by a dynamic lookup to a view (sorted by the project#) or by storing the latest rev# in FormA (but if deletions are allowed, you may need to watch out using this approach).
