JS submit issue - not going to $$Return - Help and TIA

I have a computed for display field that if nothing has been entered in another field displays “No Details Provided”. If the field this one references is empty the submit fails, but if the field has something in it (so the computed field displays something) then it works. HELP!!!

I have a couple of apps that have a web element or two for approval. So I use a different form/subform for the web and do JS validation. It has worked fine up till now. I have a client who says it is not working and I know that I tested it before putting up on the test server, so I am stumped.

I have two buttons, one approve and once cancel. Each call

different functions and neither submit works. I have validated the code (via alerts) is calling the submit event but instead of going to the page that $$Return references the URL is same as the edit page with “&Seq=1” added to the end. Code is below. DB property of "Use JavaScript…: is on. I tried the code with the section author stuff commented out without success.
