Java applet extremely slow in loading

I have embedded an outline in a page, and display the page in a frame to be viewed in a browser. I have the outline displayed using the Java applet. The applet takes FOREVER to load. I’m talking about 2 - 3 minutes. Sometimes, you can get it to load faster by clicking on the Favorites button in IE (found that by accident).

I have tried different configurations of the property box, to no effect.

Please, does anyone know what is wrong? I have not found anything on this forum which sounds related to this problem.

Seriously, I don’t use the applets all that much but every time I do I am a-freaking-mazed at how long they take to load up. I think i’t just the way they work.

You can do a sort of benchmark by loading up something like Names.nsf and see how long it takes to load up the bits and pieces required to run.
