How do I run Japanese Lotus Notes 8.5 Client on a US English XP laptop?
I have brought up the first install screen and I am only seeing boxes and lines where the Japanese characters should be. What is preventing them from showing?
Do I fix this in Windows or Domino? If the latter, what client version should I install?

OK I managed to install the English version of Lotus Notes Client 8.5, then I installed the Lotus Notes Client 8.5 Multilingual User Interface for WinXP/Vista GP 1 on top of that.
I now see Japanese characters in the main frame of Notes, but the top bar where File Edit View Create Tools Help, etc normally appear still have pull down menus of empty boxes.
Can this be fixed so they show Japanese characters as well?
Subject: It is an OS issue
To fix this you have to install support for Japanese language in windows. This can be found under Regional Settings in the Control Panel
