iText, embedded images and DominoPDF

Hello. If somebody has a minute, I’ve been messing around with the iText api and converting notes docs to pdf. I really like it or whatever…especially the price. I’m facing an obstacle with it though…has anybody been able to apply/render formatted text and embedded images from a notes rich text field to an iText Paragraph object? For instance…something like this…

blah blah text look at this image:

how do you like that image? blah blah text

i can only get the formatted text out of the rich text field…i’d like to take the entire rich text field ~as is~ in the notes doc and dump it into the Paragraph. I’m finding this might be an impossibility, especially since i think the domino richtextitem class is incapable of producing that kinda ouput itself…but i was just checking if anybody has done it or whatever?

Also, I’ve read about that DominoPDF from primeapple on this forum. I think i’ll demo it out but I was wondering if it magically renders the notes doc to pdf internally on it’s own or does the pdf have to built brick by brick like iText?.. leaving potential rich text content quandries as outlined above…

Thank you very much for reading this.

yes, I have done this, I have done it with a very large fax workflow appYou have to export the entire doc to an XML file

then grab the image node and convert that to an image

once you have that done, it is nothing more then adding an image to the PDF

Warning:

R6.5.x uses Java 1.3, this version of Java is not able to handle tiffs very well (especially G3 and G4 Tiffs)

You will get unexpected results

If this is your case then convert the .tiff to .gif or .jpg
