User is on Notes version 6.5 / Win XP Sp2. Problem seems to have been experienced since upgrade to this version. The user returns to the office to go through unread mails in their inbox, after opening the first unread mail in the inbox the enter key is used to navigate to the next unread mail document. Even though the unread documents are in sequence in the inbox, navigation via the enter key intermittently jumps a number of documents, i.e inbox now shows a list of mixed read and unread mail.
Any suggestions on how to navigate through inbox mail in the sequence it is displayed using the enter key without this intermittent skipping of some documents.?

I have had problems like this with unread marks in the past but not just in version 6. I presume your user is a laptop user and has a local and server mailfile configured. I have seen one copy (server or local version) of a users mailfile that the unread marks got out of sync with the other copy. This caused similar issues to yours.
The workaround involves exchanging the unread marks for the database concerned.
To do this navigate to the workspace and unstack both Network and local mailfiles for the user (this assumes its a mailfile).
Hold down the shift key and select both mailfiles (server and local) then click on edit then “unread marks” then “exchange unread marks”. Now try flipping through the mails again using the return/enter key.
Give it a whirl…
n.b I presume you did a CTRL + SHIFT + F9 inside the db to update index’s already?

I have tried updating the indexes but it did not make any difference. It is not really a problem with unread marks being out of sync, the user is desktop user and the mail file is on a server. The unread marks just make it easier to notice the navigation problem. In this case the user opens their mail file and is presented with 10 unread mails in sequence in their inbox. User opens the first unread mail and then uses the enter key to navigate to the next mail in sequence.
Normally this works, i.e. when a mail is open on the screen hitting the enter key navigates to the next mail in the view, but intermittently it fails and starts skipping mail documents. This is noticeable when you are using this navigation method to go through your unread mail as you return to the view to see some still unread documents. Trying to determine the reason for this intermittent problem
