Issue creating Word OLE object

I am using the following code to create an instance of Word. The function is called by a user from an action button on a document.

We have Word 2003, Office SP2, and Notes 6.0.3 - 5 on various machines.

The line:

Set wordApp = CreateObject(“Word.Application”)

is working fine for pretty much all of the users, but some are having issues.

A post here gave me the line:

Set wordApp = GetObject(“”,“Word.Application”)

but this appears to require word to be started, which I don’t want.

Any guesses as to why it doesn’t work for some, even though they appear to have the same combination of versions, or what I can do to create a generic one that will work for all?

Dear ,

We have these problems other, and moustly with PDF Distillers.

Might need to check the following,

These users might not have administrator rights on there computers, and/or have not the privilidge to create OLE objects. Therefore you can check there REGEDIT file and go down the security as long as the machines key tree.

I have tried to find where the problem was with our clients; but could not retrieve something special yet.

Do try the following:

Create in a word or excel application a macro, which do also

x = createObject(“Word.application”);

Greetings

In the end the users in question had Office reinstalled on their machines and this fixed the issue. I don’t know the details of whether they had admin rights etc as that was all out of my hands, I’m just on the Notes side…

Regardless, the issue is now gone…

Thanks for your response.
