I’m trying to use @IsNotNull to hide a field, and was shocked to realize that it doesn’t exist (@IsNotNull, that is). Is there some easy equivalent to this? I can’t find anything in the help files about it…

Not in a single function, but you can just negate @IsNull, thusly:
!(@IsNull(whatever))

What’s wrong with good old x != “”?
Don’t get me started on the R6 formula language finally formalizing the inexcusable use of the word Null to mean empty string.

@IsNull is a convenient way to check for a (potentially empty) data set of a type that is NOT text. E.g.:
tmp := SomeDateField;
@If(@IsNull(tmp); “No date!”; @Adjust(tmp; …))
It’s a bit more elegant than:
tmp := SomeDateField;
@If(@Text(tmp) = “”; “No date!”; @Adjust(tmp; …))
Technically you don’t need it, but it’s nice. Just like you don’t need @True and @False (there’s always @Yes and @No), but it’s definitely much nicer to have them than not.

Fair enough – although I would use
tmp := @adjust(SomeDateField; …);
@iferror(tmp)
And I also dislike the use of @True and @False in the vast majority of circumstances. But this is all personal programming preference, and not necessarily better or worse, and certainly not right or wrong.

It remains inexcusable unless @Null appears in the language.
