Is Version Control tools available for LN Applications

Hi,

Can anyone suggest some version control/Audit tools for Lotus Notes Applications.

For Audit purpose we need to record each and every changes made to the Application Design Components and also the time & designer name who changed it(Audit trail). For all the other ongoing systems they handle Object Cycle & other methodologies which Lotus Applications does not fit into. Please help me in this regard.

Try “TeamStudio” family of products. They have been around for quite some time and do a very good job. TeamStudio also locks down designs and has solid procedures for booking in and out design components for change purposes as part of its change management facilities.

As you begin you investigation into version control management, take a look at Jagre DXSuite X-Station. X-Station not only provides VCM for Lotus Notes database applications, it also provides VCM for external source code files for Websphere and other development environments.

Dear Barnali, You can evaluate audit trail software at www.dysant.com (Dysant AuditLog).

AuditLog not only captures before and after values for each changed document in a Notes db, but also identifies:

  • The source of any data, schema, or permissions change

  • The date and time they changed it

  • What data has been accessed, and by what user or application

  • How data was modified, and when

  • Who has viewed certain data

  • What design in Lotus db changes have occurred, e.g. delete agents or create new Lotus Script Code

As Bizhan indicates the Teamstudio CIAO! product is probably your best bet. It is the most widely used version control system for Lotus Notes and Domino applications.
