Is there any way to set the hide formula of a notes view column with lotusscript?

Hi,I’m using the createColumn method to add new view columns to a view. Part of the manual work I’m trying to avoid is writting the column hide when formula, but the createColumn method doesn’t have a hide when formula parameter. Is there any way I could progromatically add hide when formulas to each view column or do I have to do that part manually?

Thanks,

I don’t see a way to do it automatically. However, if your hide/when is always the same you could create a hidden column to use as a template with your hide/when formula already in it then use the CopyColumn method instead of the CreateColumn method. Just a thought.

Great idea! Unfortunately my hide when formula is almost identical in each column, but there’s one change, the field name (also the programatic name of the column) needs to change in the formula. @thisname only works in a field formula and doesn’t work in a column formula.

Any more ideas? Keep them coming!

Thanks.

will NotesViewColumn.ItemName help you at all? If you use a field to define the column value it may work for you.

Paul,If there was an equivalent function in formula language, I could get it to work, but there isn’t one as far as I know.

Thanks anyway for your help!

can you give me an example of a hide/when formula you use for hiding view columns? perhaps there is a way.

Here’s an example of one column hide when formula:

!@Contains(@GetProfileField( “buildReport” ;“selectStatement”; @UserName );“companyName”)

companyName being the name of the field for that column and the programatic name of the column. I have 50 + columns that has the same hide when formula, except that companyName changes and yes, I do want companyName inside quotes.

I’m looking at dxl as a possible way to do this right now. If you find another answer or see how I could use dxl to do this, please share!

Thanks
