Is there a way to prevent users from connecting to a specific replica when the main one is unavailable?

We have a database we replicate to a webserver that only receives documents relevant to be served up, thus it’s pretty sparse compared to the main replica our users connect to.

On the rare instance when the ‘big’ replica is down, I want to prevent the users from automatically switching to the web server, as I’ve grown bored watching them freak out when they realize their data is missing.

Is there a way to prevent users from connecting to a specific replica when the main one is unavailable?

Thanks,

use the ACL. Set your server’s access to designer so the ACL does not replicate then you can have different ACL’s on each server.

Sometimes this is the right answer. Don’t forget to update the ACL on both servers in the future.

Thanks.

It’s these simple solutions that I seem to overlook …
