Is router/smtp renaming attachments/files?

We have an ISP who monitors our incoming emails.

One of the rules is to block files. It replaces each blocked file with a text file containing reference code for releasing the blocked file.

If an email contains more than one file, a text file is created for each one - with the same name. ie Warning.txt

After we upgraded to R8.5, all warning.txt files are renamed - they have the .00x appended to them (ie: warning.txt.001, warning.txt.002). Users are now complaining that they cannot open/read those files.

How do I tell the router/smtp to stop renaming the attachments/files?

Subject: DAOS?

Has the Domino Attachment and Object Service (DAOS) been enabled since your upgrade to 8.5?

Subject: DAOS - not enabled

No, we haven’t enabled DAOS.

We won’t be using DAOS as we’re using a third party product for archiving emails. This third party product does not sit in the middle of the email traffic.

Subject: Attachment problem

I have this problem as well. Funny thing is that client has been running 8.5 for the last 4-5months, and this problem started occurring in last 2 weeks. Clients on the same network using 8.0.2 don’t exhibit the problem. Also if they forward the mail to the outside, the attachments come back with their proper names. Anyone has any idea what this could be?
