Is it possible to set client configuration through the notes.ini

I’ve been messing around with the Installshield Tuner that came with Notes 6 and I noticed that you can drop an ini file into your Tranformation file. However, this is only useful to me if I can set up the clients to automatically show the workspace page by default. Otherwise, I am automating the installation process, but not the client configuration process.

I searched the forum and a couple of notes.ini files, but didn’t find anything that would indicate where it was setting what the default homepage was.

Can anyone give me a tip? Is it a setting in bookmarks.nsf? can i just give my users a copy of that database set the way we want it?

In Notes 6 Client:

Note: In order for this process to work in Notes 6.x Client you must

change the name of the “UserBookMarkOrderTemplate” outline to

“UserBookMarkOrder”. You must then save the outline with its new name.

  1. Launch Domino 6 Designer client.

  2. Open the Bookmark.ntf template file.

  3. Expand the Shared Code category on the left and expand Outlines.

  4. Scroll down the outline list and click on

“UserBookmarkOrderTemplate”. The outline will open on the right.

  1. Select Design, Outline Properties. In the InfoBox which appears,

rename the outline to “UserBookmarkOrder” (in other words, drop the

“Template” part of the outline from the end). Leave the Infobox open.

  1. From the Notes menu select File, Save.

  2. Expand the Databases outline entry.

  3. Select the Workspace entry.

  4. Note that the InfoBox changes from Outline properties to Outline

Entry properties (or, if you previously closed the InfoBox select Design,

Outline Entry Properties to reopen the InfoBox). Switch to the 2nd tab

(the “shade” icon).

  1. Hold down the SHIFT key and click the ‘Hide Outline Entry From’

property labelled ‘Notes 4.6 or Later’.

  1. Release the SHIFT key .

  2. Deselect the hide when property ‘Notes 4.6 or Later’.

You can use policies to force a certain startpage, by supplying a customized bookmark database.I’m not sure how to default it to the workspace, though.
