Is it possible to add instant messaging after initial setup?

You can configure it at any time in the client. I have not been able to get my 6.5.1 to work because my Person document is screwed up, but my understanding is that it can be configured in 6.5.1 at any time.

What version of the client and the server are you using? There are many questions wandering my mind…

Subject: What exactly are you asking?

When you say “add instant messaging”, you can certainly set instant messaging parameters (in user preferences and location document) anytime you want.
