I am not familiar with the iPhone at all, but did watch its owner set up an account on it. I’ll have him go back over that process and let you know what happens.
We got an iPhone app called AST (ActiveSynch Tester) and it says we have some DNS issue.I can still telnet to the server from the internet on ports 80,443,8642
I also have browsed through all the Traveler log files and found that Traveler knows that we have been trying to synch and that we have an iPhone!
Bob, I had the same issue. I also only installed Traveler Server because iPhone doesn’t use the client. So, after installing just the Traveler Client ontop of existing Traveler Server install. Went to my servlet/traveler site with the iPhone and bam the ‘Configure Apple Device’ option showed. Hope you got your’s working too.
Well I finally got my iPhone to connect and process mail. The problem was I only read the documentation 3 times where it said that the Client install was only needed for Nokia and Windows mobile phones:“The client software is not needed for Apple devices”
So I did not install it initially. I should have read the documentation 3 more times so I could appreciate the subtleties
NOTA BENE:
Install both the Traveler Server and Client if you want it to work!
Yes - sorry for inconvenience. The Info Center is not clear on that point. Technically the client software is not needed to sync the iPhone device, however you would have to follow the instructions to manually configure the device. To use the Auto profile generation feature you need the client software portion installed. Note this is fixed in the next release.
