iPhone, IMAP, and DNS Blacklists

I use my iPhone with IMAP to our Domino server and it works well enough. But when I delete an email on the iPhone it does not delete it from my Notes Inbox. It marks the email as Read in Notes. It happens with other iPhone users as well. Can anyone confirm this behavior with their servers and iPhone clients? It doesn’t happen with my Gmail IMAP account and the iPhone.

Also, on our Domino server we use the Spamhaus Zen DNS Blacklist to tag emails and then an agent places the email in users’ Junk folders. My iPhone sometimes picks up an IP address from AT&T that is on the Zen Blacklist, which results in my emails sent from the iPhone to other Notes users ending up in their Junk folder. I could try to get the IP removed from the DNS Blacklist but that could be an everyday event as the IPs change. Then it occurred to me that I could whitelist our own Domino server so that iPhone and Windows Mobile IMAP clients sending through it skip the DNS Blacklist check. Will that work? Can a server be on it’s own whitelist? Domino can be touchy sometimes. I didn’t know if this would cause the server to blowup or the Universe to collapse or something.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Subject: iPhone IMAP mail deletion

We have the same problem with our iPhones. I’d also love to hear from anyone who’s worked around it. I’ll also start another thread asking what the heck happened to the native Notes client for iPhone that was announced back in January…

Subject: RE: IMAP and iPhones

It’s good to hear it’s not just something with my server. As for the native Lotus client for the iPhone, there was a lot of discussion about that on edbrill.com. Because Apple does not talk about future products and is very secretive, I suspect that one day it will just be announced that Notes\iPhone support is available.

I’d still like to hear people’s thoughts on the whitelist issue.

Thanks,

Greg

Subject: imap folder references

you guys did enable imap folder references in each .nsf, right?

Subject: iPhone mail deletion?

Did you get this working? If so, what steps did you take to make it work?

Thanks in advance…
