iPhone can't access inbox... Initializing

I used to be able to access my work email via the iPhone, but since the update to 8.5.1 all I can get to is the home screen. There is a badge in the corner of the inbox folder icon, saying there are x number of new emails, but if I try to open the inbox, it just stalls with the blinking message “Initializing… Initializing… Initializing…” Thanks in advance.

I tried rosetting my iphone 4 as suggested, but still have this same issue. Anyone have any luck resolving it?

This is all the Apple Mail app on the device, so you would need Apple to fix it. If the reboot didn’t fix it, then you should open an Apple bug with Apple directly to have Apple fix the Mail app.

Subject: Resolution

I may not have been clear, my issue was with the iNotes web interface accessed through mobile Safari on the iPhone. I wasn’t using the mail app at all (don’t have traveler installed either).

In any case, my issue appears to have been resolved when my corporate IT department pushed out some updates (one of which upgraded 8.5.1 iNotes to 8.5.2). Hope this helps anyone else who stumbles across this thread.

I have been trying to help someone with this problem and I finally figured it out. Here’s what I did:

Go to Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > Clear All Website Data

Then do a hard reboot. Hope this helps others.

Subject: Same exact issue

With my iPhone 4. It used to work a few months ago, not sure what change has caused it to behave this way. Get the home/main screen just fine. Tap on InBox and just goes into a loop with the word “Initializing” displaying, but can’t seem to get past that.

Something in the device’s mail configuration sounds corrupted. Trying rebooting the phone by holding the power and home buttons all the way until you see the silver Apple logo.

Do you have a proxy server between the client and Domino? Try setting the preferences to use an explicit timezone and see if that works around the problem.
