iPad and iNotes Full and Lite modes

From what I can tell, in Domino 8.0 and iNotes, the iPad is detected as an “unsupported browser”, similar to an iPhone, and the user is sent to the unsupported browser page, which allows the user to open webmail in Ultralite mode. This is good. However, on an 8.5.1 server with 8.5 mail template, it looks like the iPad is detected as a known browser and iNotes opens in Full or Lite mode. This is bad, since the iNotes Full and Lite mode interfaces inherently require double-click and right-click browser capability, which is missing on Safari on iPad.

So, my question is, has anyone else noticed the same behavior? Might this be something peculiar in my server / iNotes configuration? If this is a known issue, is it corrected in 8.5.2?

I think I can correct this by setting up a custom iNotes Redirector site, but did not want to go that route if it’s not necessary.

Subject: web redirect

Have you looked at the ‘Web Redirect’ database on your server? Under the ‘Ultralight/Mobile’ settings, you can the browser strings that will trigger ultralite mode. Make sure a user agent keyword for the ipad is in your list.
